Giving Vista a Shot

I successfully installed Vista on my Intel Mac a few weeks ago. The installation went surprisingly smooth. I decided not to use Boot Camp but rather to purchase Parallels for about 80 bucks. I think it is much cooler than Boot Camp… mainly, you don’t have to reboot to pick your OS, you can actually run them both at the same time.

I have only been running with this setup for a few weeks, so I can’t give a full detailed report, but I can say it works and it is easy to setup. The main drawback so far is that my computer runs about half the speed if not a little worse when I have Vista open. I don’t have office 2007 yet, but once I do, I will use Vista more and give some more feedback.

I guess the conclusion is, Vista works just fine on a mac. I have used it to test web work in IE and Firefox on a pc and that is awesome. I can test a pc’s browsers from my mac without using some sort of emulator that never seems to be quite accurate. So if you were thinking about putting Vista on your mac, you have my seal of approval. And the best part about it… I don’t have to touch my pc anymore…

I just finished building a quality assurance application for our emails and landing pages at work. When I finished this beta version, I was doing a recap in my head… and then I realized what I had done. I had written a blogging engine. Well, a little more than that. I figure I have to strip out 70% of it and then build another 20%, but for the most part it is all there accept for a few key aspects. Before too long, I will put in the effort and create my own blogging engine for phxcreative. Personally, I really like blogger, but this site is meant to be fully custom… so eventually, it has to go.

The site has just undergone a major overhaul. It wasn’t that much work really, but it is all for the better. The site is wider and now allows for more content, more layouts and bigger things. This is pretty cool… The Google search is still buggy, the showcase was edited to match a different layout I tested once, it works for now, but I am planning something new for my showcase. Everything else seems to be working fine. I will be adding google search to the site in addition to all of the custom search engines I plan to implement.

This site is moving up, it now has a wider layout than I ever thought I would do, a bigger font, yet still, no tables, that makes me happy. Just an fyi, if you are wondering why I don’t just make it variable width… ’cause I don’t like variable width layouts…

Enjoy the new layout, other than that, nothing has really happened…

Done!

10:32 and I got sidetracked on YouTube thanks to a buddy. So I am done, I still have to reformat some of the subpages content, but the main part is done. I redid the css, resized a couple of images and watched some videos on YouTube here check them out:

Enjoy the site, it was easier than I thought. I love css…
